Lds dating decesions
The article is partly a book review of Date-onomics, a book that breaks down dating trends by demographics.
The two people aren’t “a couple” or “an item,” and they don’t refer to each other as a “boyfriend” or “girlfriend.” They don’t pair off. This is the kind of dating the Church encourages you to do after you turn 16.
You should put aside a need to find a “one and only.” If you’re dating casually, you don’t expect a relationship to become a romance.
I recently read a very interesting article in Time Magazine about the LDS (and Jewish) dating scene.
I have a particular interest in this as I have a daughter in her late 30s that was widowed last year due to cancer, and she lives in Utah County.
“Latter-day prophets have given us standards about dating to protect us from spiritual danger and help us prepare to one day find a worthy eternal companion.
These standards include not dating before age 16, avoiding frequent dates with the same person, and dating only those who have high moral standards.” BIG decisions you make here this day, shown on the dating poster (above), will affect your marriage eternally. The dating game within the Mormon culture can seem a bit broken at times. The guy is supposed to ask the girl, but the guy doesn’t ask at all. This is the phase where you get together in large or small groups of both males and females, and you casually get to know people. From the article: Contrary to popular belief, the majority of Mormon men do not go on missions, which typically entail a mix of community service and proselytizing.Mormon men are being asked to serve missions at precisely the time in their lives—late teens and early twenties—when sociologists say men are most susceptible to dropping out of organized religion. But, if you think about it, aren’t we all in the dating game for “selfish” purposes.Tags: Adult Dating, affair dating, sex dating
